Inspiration

I’ve been in a creative slump for a while now, one that only got worse when Mojo died.  Frankly for the last month I’ve barely had any desire to do much of anything.  I think it’s obvious in the fact that my website is pretty much just a place where you can go see women in bikinis on Monday (interesting tidbit: my traffic appears to be the same as when I was expending effort to created new content).  In an attempt to pull my head out of my proverbial tuchis I’ve been paying attention to people who do things that I admire.

Like this guy. Roger Lima is a sound designer/composer/one man band who has a handful of YouTube videos that, I think, gives hope to bedroom musicians everywhere. Here he plays a bicycle.

Street Trials…

I’ve made no secret of my love of all Danny Macaskill videos. I honestly think he’s the best bike rider in the world right now. Obviously, dude has made a name and a career for himself releasing videos of himself doing ridiculous things on a bicycle. There had to be more people out there who’d try to feed from the same trough.

This guy is not Danny Macaskill (which, apparently, is pronounced “Mac-as-kill” not “Maca-skill”). But he does do a legit, honest-to-goodness, Martin Aparijo/Chris Day boomerang on a ledge. So, I’ll give it to him for that.

I’m Not Sure if I Get This

One of the things I dig about the idea of MTB Street riding is that there’s the possibility for for a different mindset to look at familiar terrain.  Danny Macaskill’s April 2009 video is still pretty awe inspiring to me for just that reason.

This, however, is just kind of a guy who put some pegs and a rigid for on his 26″ and proceeded to shoot another BMX street video.  That’s kinda disappointing, really (the above bar height double peg at ~:50 was kinda impressive).   I don’t want mountain biking to be just BMX with bigger wheels, but it seems to be going that way.
